How would you describe yourself or your work in one sentence?

Building LGBTQIA+ visibility, connection and belonging in regional South Australia through the Port Augusta Pride Picnic.

Tell us a little about what you do

Together in Pride Port Augusta Inc is a community-led not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting LGBTQIA+ inclusion in Port Augusta and surrounding regions.
Through events like the Port Augusta Pride Picnic, we create welcoming spaces where LGBTQIA+ people and their families can connect with each other, celebrate their identities, and access supportive organisations and services.

What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?

The 2025 Port Augusta Pride Picnic brought together 150–200 people from across the Spencer Gulf region, with several attendees sharing that it was their first ever Pride event.
The event also connected attendees with inclusive service providers and community organisations, including Shine SA, Uniting Country SA, Wonky Lines Counselling and the Queer Society, helping people learn about support networks available to them locally.

Why does your work matter to the community?

LGBTQIA+ people in regional communities can often feel isolated and unsupported.
Events like our Pride Picnic create safe and visible spaces where people can feel accepted, meet others like them, and see that their community values diversity and inclusion.

What would you like voters to know when voting for you?

Our work helps ensure LGBTQIA+ people in regional South Australia know they are seen, supported and celebrated. Voting for us recognises the importance of building inclusive communities everywhere, not just in big cities.
