Pride Adelaide Inc exists to support, celebrate, and advocate for LGBTQIASB+ people across South Australia.
We create inclusive spaces where community can gather, be visible, and feel safe to show up as themselves. Through events, partnerships, and community-led action, we strengthen connection, visibility, and belonging.
We are volunteer-run, community-focused, and committed to ensuring LGBTQIASB+ people are seen. Present. Together.
Our History
Pride Adelaide Inc was incorporated in 2003, at a time when visibility, safety, and recognition for LGBTQIASB+ people in South Australia were far from guaranteed. The organisation was formed by community members who believed Pride mattered not as a single moment, but as an ongoing presence.
In the early years, Pride Adelaide focused on creating space. Space to gather. Space to be visible. Space to advocate for dignity and inclusion. What began as a small, community-led effort grew steadily through volunteer commitment and community trust.
Over time, Pride Adelaide became the custodian of Pride March in Adelaide, building on a much longer local history of protest, pride, and collective action. The March evolved from a demonstration of resistance into a public celebration of identity, while never losing its political and social roots.
As the community grew, so did the organisation’s role. Pride Adelaide expanded beyond a single event, supporting year-round activity, partnerships, and platforms that reflected the diversity of LGBTQIASB+ lives across South Australia.
In recent years, this growth has included the introduction of Pride Gala and Pride Awards, recognising excellence, contribution, and leadership within the community. These events sit alongside Pride March as part of a broader commitment to visibility, recognition, and celebration.
Throughout every phase, Pride Adelaide has remained volunteer-run and community-led. The organisation has adapted to changing social, cultural, and political contexts while staying grounded in the same purpose that led to incorporation in 2003.
