How would you describe yourself or your work in one sentence?
It's getting bigger and better each year and we just had our 10th birthday!!
Tell us a little about what you do
Early 2026 held our 10th Southern Pride March and Family Fun Day. A vibrant annual Pride event which we work on improving each year. With a focus on connections and intersectionality within the Onkaparinga community and beyond. The event creates a wonderful opportunity for the southern LGBTIQA+ community, friends and allies to come together to celebrate pride and form strong connections between themselves and with local service providers and the LGBTIQA+ organisations of Adelaide as they all come down to make the event fabulous!
The March highlights the ongoing fight for equality and inclusion that our rainbow community faces, but equally the joy and pride that can be found in community coming together to celebrate.
What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?
The Southern Pride March increases connection to support LGBTIQA+ culture and to increase visibility leading to greater acceptance.
Our hope is that the day decreases isolation and potential negativity for our community.
Our goal for this day is for everyone to have a fabulous time but also to get support and education from the amazing stalls.
We cater for all ages and do the best we can do to make everyone feel involved from toddlers to the elderly.
Why does your work matter to the community?
We are responding to the ongoing need for LGBTIQA+ community events in the southern region of Adelaide.
The delivery of the Southern Pride March will lead to a more connected community and a greater awareness by the wider community of the challenges faced by the LGBTIQA+ people in the south and beyond. Both the LGBTIQA+ and the wider community will benefit as a result of this event and look forward to this event every year!
What would you like voters to know when voting for you?
The event is fabulous and fun and we welcome everyone!
