How would you describe yourself or your work in one sentence?
Rainbow is the Official LGBTIQA+ supporter group for the Adelaide Football Club (AFL, AFLW & SANFL).
Tell us a little about what you do
Rainbow Crows celebrates its 10 birthday in 2026. We work with the Adelaide Football Club (AFC), AFL and other sporting organisations to ensure the AFL is an inclusive space for LGBTIQA+ people and other minorities. We do this through education, visibility, community connections and providing safe spaces for our community to be involved in the AFL/W environment as our authentic selves.
What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?
Although the past year has had several significant challenges in our space, Rainbow Crows has worked tirelessly with key leaders, players and staff in the Adelaide Football Club. We have had conversations on the impact of homophobia and transphobia in sport and the steps that elite sports athletes and teams need to take to ensure all people feel they belong in the sporting environment. We have received a large amount of feedback from community members, players and staff, that our work has made a significant contribution in making the club and sport more accountable in its responsibilities to ensure inclusion is valued and an integral part of the game of Australian rules football. We created numerous activations with the club as part of the AFLW pride round and were leaders in the AFLW competition in relation to LGBTIQA+ visibility at home games and for every away game across the country.
