South Australia’s biggest free celebration of LGBTQIA+ pride, community and joy.
Tell us a little about what you do
Picnic in the Park is Feast Festival’s flagship community celebration and one of South Australia’s largest LGBTQIA+ public events. Held annually as part of Feast Festival, the event brings thousands of people together in a welcoming outdoor space to celebrate pride, diversity, and community.
The event is designed to be accessible, family-friendly, and inclusive. Featuring live music, drag performances, DJs, community organisations, food vendors, and market stalls, Picnic in the Park transforms a public park into a vibrant celebration of queer culture and belonging.
Unlike many ticketed events, Picnic in the Park prioritises accessibility and participation. People of all ages, backgrounds, and identities are invited to attend, whether they are part of the LGBTQIA+ community or allies celebrating alongside them.
The event is also an important platform for LGBTQIA+ artists, performers, and community groups. The stage programming highlights queer performers while community stalls provide vital opportunities for organisations to share resources, build connections, and engage with audiences.
For many attendees, Picnic in the Park is more than an event — it is a moment of visibility and collective pride. It is where friendships are formed, families gather, and the community comes together to celebrate who they are in a joyful, public space.
What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?
Picnic in the Park has grown into one of the most significant LGBTQIA+ community events in South Australia.
The event brings together thousands of attendees each year, creating a large-scale public celebration of pride, identity, and community connection. For many people, it is the highlight of the Feast Festival program and a defining moment of the Pride season.
The event supports a wide range of artists, performers, and community organisations. Live performances showcase LGBTQIA+ musicians, drag artists, DJs, and entertainers, providing a professional platform and exposure to large audiences.
Community stalls are a central part of the event, allowing organisations to connect directly with attendees and share important resources related to health, wellbeing, advocacy, and support services. This creates meaningful opportunities for engagement and strengthens networks across the LGBTQIA+ sector.
Picnic in the Park also supports local businesses and vendors through food stalls and market participation, helping activate the local economy while building a vibrant festival atmosphere.
Importantly, the event prioritises accessibility and inclusion. By keeping the event free and open to the public, Feast removes financial barriers that might prevent people from participating in Pride celebrations.
This commitment to accessibility ensures that the event can be enjoyed by young people, families, community groups, and individuals from diverse economic backgrounds.
Through scale, visibility, and accessibility, Picnic in the Park continues to strengthen LGBTQIA+ community connection across South Australia.
