How would you describe yourself or your work in one sentence?

The Jewel of Adelaide. Proudly queer owned and operated, and home to the LGBTQIA+ community for over 10 years.

Tell us a little about what you do

For more than a decade, Mary’s Poppin has proudly served as a home for Adelaide’s LGBTQIA+ community. As a queer owned and operated venue, Mary’s hosts over 100 queer events each year and provides a platform for emerging and established LGBTQIA+ talent from Adelaide and across Australia. With multiple dance floors and diverse events, Mary’s creates spaces where people can connect, celebrate, and make lasting memories in an environment that is safe, inclusive, and unapologetically queer.

What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?

In 2025, Mary’s underwent an exciting transformation with the creation of the Bottoms Up Bar - a vibrant new space designed to bring fresh energy to the venue while continuing to prioritise the safety and inclusivity the community expects. The renovation reflects Mary’s ongoing commitment to evolving while remaining a trusted hub for Adelaide’s LGBTQIA+ nightlife.

Why does your work matter to the community?

Safe and welcoming spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community are essential. As a proudly queer owned and operated venue, Mary’s provides a dependable place where people can gather, celebrate, and feel comfortable being themselves. By continually investing in the space and the people who fill it, Mary’s remains a home for connection, creativity, and community.

What would you like voters to know when voting for you?

A vote for Mary’s celebrates more than 10 years of dedication to Adelaide’s LGBTQIA+ community. It recognises a proudly queer owned venue that continues to create joyful, safe spaces where people can come together, celebrate, and truly belong.
