How would you describe yourself or your work in one sentence?

Proud to bring regional Burlesque,Circus and Drag to Peterborough

Tell us a little about what you do

Cabaret Capers has found its home in regional SA, From a dream to reality our troupe has brought regional communities together to celebrate diversity, inclusion and body positivity. We have been producing shows for the past 2yrs now that have faced hardship and challenges whilst bringing a sense of pride and acceptance to Peterborough.

What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?

Bringing our show to town through the support of Feast Festival has helped change perspectives within the Southern Flinders Ranges. Locally we are seeing positive community engagement, tiny changes and acceptance for those struggle with their voice, who were once judged and hidden to now walking down the street out and proud! We our proud to say we have won 3 Awards through the SA Burlesque Awards of Far and Wide and Community Achievement which recognises our hard work to facilitate change.

Why does your work matter to the community?

Our work is so important! In regional communities there is long standing judgement and prejudices, we have faced personal threats of violence yet we have persisted. We have been chipping away at shifting the negativity with great success. Our yearly event is a great example of this. We have shown that Peterborough can be a safe and supported town for inclusion. We have also been fortunate to perform for several local charities to help raise much needed funds for Peterborough Drought Relief and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

What would you like voters to know when voting for you?

Your vote would show not only Peterborough but other regional towns that things change!
