How would you describe yourself or your work in one sentence?
What's your safe word?
Tell us a little about what you do
Pixie (they/them) and Nick (he/him) are the creative force behind Devious Adelaide. We create immersive, high-impact performance spaces that celebrate kink, circus and queer expression without shame.
What you crave is within reach. Step into our colourful world, free from judgement, built on consent, care and collaboration.
We are performers and producers. We build stages. We build worlds. We build safer spaces where people can explore power, identity and pleasure with clarity and intention.
What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?
Over the past year we have:
• Produced multiple sold-out immersive events in Adelaide
• Platformed more than 30 local LGBTQIA+ and allied performers
• Created paid opportunities for emerging and established artists
• Embedded clear consent culture and safety protocols into every event
• Brought thousands of audience members into queer-led performance spaces where they felt seen and respected
Our current 7-night Adelaide Fringe season expands our reach even further, with a 370-seat venue and the capacity to engage over 2,000 audience members across the run.
What changed because of our work? Queer artists have somewhere to perform work that does not fit into conventional spaces. Audiences have somewhere to explore curiosity without fear. Conversations about kink, consent and queer expression have moved from the shadows onto the stage.
Why does your work matter to the community?
Our work centres consent, communication and visibility, while keeping access and inclusion at the forefront.
We normalise conversations about boundaries and respect. We make safety explicit. We show that pleasure and responsibility coexist.
For performers, we provide professional platforms, fair pay and creative autonomy - produced by a team who value inclusivity, care and access. For audiences, we offer belonging. For the broader community, we demonstrate that alternative expression can be structured, safe and artistically rigorous. We genuinely care for our casts.
People leave our events feeling empowered. Curious, not ashamed. Connected, not isolated.
What would you like voters to know when voting for you?
Vote for us because we do not just put on shows. We build culture. We invest in local artists. We prioritise consent. We create bold, unforgettable work that pushes boundaries while holding community at the centre. If you believe queer art deserves scale, professionalism and safety. If you believe kink spaces can be ethical and inclusive. If you believe Adelaide needs more brave, beautifully produced experiences.
