How would you describe yourself or your work in one sentence?
Building community by showing up consistently and visibly.
Tell us a little about what you do
I am the Founder and President of Hike Society Adelaide, an LGBTQIASB+ hike and social club focused on creating safe, inclusive outdoor spaces.
My work centres on building structured, sustainable community initiatives that prioritise safety, accessibility and belonging. I lead planning, risk management, partnerships and communications to ensure our events are welcoming and professionally run.
What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?
Since launching Hike Society Adelaide in October 2023, the group has grown to 100+ members and delivered consistent fortnightly hikes and social events across South Australia.
What began as a small idea has developed into a reliable community platform with clear safety standards, structured leadership and partnerships that extend our reach. Members regularly share that this group has reduced their isolation and strengthened their support networks.
Why does your work matter to the community?
I started Hike Society Adelaide because there was a clear need for a safe, inclusive space that encouraged both an active lifestyle and genuine connection. Physical health matters, but so does belonging. Too many people experience isolation that tends to impacts their mental wellbeing.
Making friends as an adult is difficult, particularly within LGBTQIASB+ communities where safe spaces aren’t always easy to find. If this group has made that process easier, if it has helped someone feel less alone, more confident, or more connected — then that impact matters.
What would you like voters to know when voting for you?
I’m truly humbled by this nomination and see it as encouragement to keep building safe, inclusive community spaces. If this work has made a difference, your vote helps it continue.
