How would you describe yourself or your work in one sentence?

Adelaide’s Queer DJ

Tell us a little about what you do

I’ve been DJing (and MCing), for 5 years now. I hold regular residencies at both Mary’s Poppin & Cherry Nightclub, alongside playing Wedding & Corporate gigs. I’ve also been lucky enough to play at some amazing festival’s such as Pride March, Schoolies Festival, Day Dance Festival, & the Glenelg Fireworks.

What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?

I think my key impacts definitely relate back to Mary’s Poppin & Pride March. DJing for the lead truck for Pride March is such an amazing accomplishment for me, not only being such a fun gig to be a part of but being able to be involved in something so important for our community. Seeing the difference in turnout last year compared to the year before was amazing.

Being involved in Mary’s every weekend also just opens me up further to the community, I’ve met so many more wonderful people through my role, who come out specifically to see me play which is such an amazing feeling.

Why does your work matter to the community?

Music is such an important part of our community and it brings people together. I think it’s amazing for other queer people to see me in my role.

What would you like voters to know when voting for you?

I think people should vote for me because I really do feel that I am “Adelaide’s queer DJ”. Every week I have so many lovely people at Mary’s cheering for me, and showing up for me, I feel so lucky to be a part of this community. DJing is quite literally my passion, and everyday I’m so grateful that this is my job, cause not too long ago it was still just a dream of mine to be playing every single week, let alone at Adelaide’s queer gem. It would mean the world to win this award, and I would be so honoured. I want to keep growing, play more festivals, and keep showing up for the queer community 🌈
