How would you describe yourself or your work in one sentence?
Shaping diversity and inclusion among our youth
Tell us a little about what you do
Adelaide University Sport and Fitness values diversity and inclusion, and focuses on a range of events throughout the year to provide opportunities for minority groups to get involved with sport and fitness. The 2nd Annual Play With Pride event featured headline speaker Isaac Humphries of the Adelaide 36ers, as well as a range of female and trans athletes and sporting industry professionals sharing their lived experiences and championing LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the sporting landscape.
What impact or achievement are you most proud of this year?
Play With Pride, the Pride in Sport Festival, Women in Sport Brunch, and Indigenous Nationals - all of which ran in 2025 - recognise the achievements of minority groups in sport, continue the fight for more diverse and inclusive opportunities, and allow like-minded people to make valuable connections. Each of these events increases visibility - particularly to Adelaide University students - and ensures that our audience moves forward understanding the importance of sporting diversity, inclusion, and opportunity for all.
Why does your work matter to the community?
Adelaide University Sport and Fitness shapes the lives of young people as they transition from youth to adulthood, a period during which they become politically aware, active, and motivated. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion through Play With Pride demonstrates that the LGBTQIA+ community has a place in the sporting landscape.
What would you like voters to know when voting for you?
Adelaide University Sport and Fitness is a not-for-profit association that plays a valuable role in the lives of young people. The visibility of our Play With Pride event helps to increase feelings of inclusion among LGBTQIA+ students, ensuring they know they have safe access to sport and fitness.
