Pride Adelaide is proud to announce that Pam Price will be inducted into the South Australian Pride Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026.

Pam’s contribution to LGBTQIASB+ communities in South Australia spans decades of feminist advocacy, health reform, peer leadership and community building. At the centre of her work has always been a simple but powerful belief: “the personal is political.”
For much of her career, Pam worked in challenging spaces alongside vulnerable and highly marginalised women. Women’s health centres in the 1970s, 80s and 90s became places where radical ideas were welcomed and supported. Within those spaces, dedicated counselling services for lesbians and lesbian couples were established. Support was created for lesbian mothers, for women coming out, and for those who had experienced abuse.
“They were women who were stepping out of line,” Pam reflected, “and it was my passion to walk alongside, amplify their experiences and stories and build communities of peer support.”
Her leadership has always been consultative and collaborative, grounded in feminist values and social justice. Peer voices have not been an afterthought. They have been central.
“Peers have to be the heart and part of every decision and action. It is collaborative, purposeful and rich leadership that finds and builds strengths.”
Pam played a significant role in advancing the voices of HIV positive women, ensuring their lived experience shaped policy, research, programs and education at both state and national levels. She has spoken of the power of story to shift systems and reduce stigma.
“Hearing a positive women’s story changes hearts and minds.”
One of the defining moments of her community leadership came in 1988, when conversations with friends sparked the idea of the first national lesbian feminist conference. One year later, more than 400 women travelled to Adelaide.
“The first rich moment of the first lesbian feminist national conference – seeing and feeling the energy of all the hundreds of joyful and determined women.”

In recent years, Pam has focused on inclusive ageing. Through her leadership and advocacy, she has worked to ensure that older LGBTQIASB+ South Australians are visible, valued and supported. Her commitment is not only to ageing well, but to ageing openly.
“I am not just interested in our community ageing well but ageing with pride and ageing with strength and continuing to be who we are without the diminishing experience that many have of going back into the closet.”
When asked what she hopes people carry forward, her answer reflects the simplicity and strength of her life’s work.
“The importance of turning up, standing beside and speaking out. How essential it is to just listen and try to understand our differences without judgment.”

Dave Newman, Chair of Pride Adelaide, said Pam’s induction recognises decades of sustained impact.
“Pam has helped shape health systems, strengthen peer leadership and ensure that women’s voices were heard when they were too often ignored. Her legacy lives in the courage, visibility and connection of our communities.”
The South Australian Pride Hall of Fame honours individuals whose long-term contribution has shaped LGBTQIASB+ life in this state. Pam Price’s induction acknowledges a lifetime grounded in feminism, social justice, collaboration and care.
She will be formally inducted at the South Australian Pride Gala on Saturday 6 June 2026 at the SkyCity Adelaide Ballroom.
