About the event

What might you have been doing on a Saturday morning fifty years ago? Join Queen of the Walk Dr Gertrude Glossip and celebrate the PROUD PARADE, Adelaide’s very first Gay Pride March, Saturday September 15th 1973. We retrace the route of the parade. Gertrude regales with tales of Gay Pride Week activism, including the same-sex ‘love in’ in the bed department of a Rundle Street department store! There are stories from the John Lee’s oral histories too. The walk commences at the northern end of Tarntanyangga/Victoria Square and concludes at the Torrens Parade Grounds.
